| History
Newberry Public Relations & Marketing, Inc. was founded in the
small spare bedroom of Betty Galligan's apartment in Pawtucket -- back
when her last name was still Newberry. In 1997, she was working for
another small advertising/PR firm and said, "I can do this for myself."
On September 5, 1997, Newberry Public Relations was born. Her first
client was, ironically, the same first client she had while working at
a Providence agency after graduating from college: American Canadian
Caribbean Line. Today, the cruise line remains on the NPR&M active
client roster along with many other successful businesses, organizations and
individuals thoughout the region. In 1998, Betty's sister Carol was experiencing a career itch to leave the social services arena and join in the entrepreneurial spirit of business. "I saw the TV ad with two women selling sunglasses, riding on the back of a boat, and said, "That can be Betty and me," Carol recalls. She was instrumental in developing the administrative and production sides of the growing firm as well as assisting in account service. In 2001, the agency moved into a four-room office space in the Rumford Professional Building in East Providence, RI. Today, the agency continues to implement results-oriented services for clients throughout the Northeast. |
