Betty is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America. Her philosophy of client service is based in part on the Society’s Code of Professional Standards and “do good work, clients will follow.” Prior to founding Newberry, she was vice president of a Providence-based agency. Previously, she worked for several small and medium-sized agencies in Rhode Island and Massachusetts where she developed strong skills in all facets of public relations, copywriting, print production, and account management. She holds a bachelor of arts degree (1986, cum laude) in communications and theatre from Rhode Island College (Providence). Her academic and subsequent professional achievements led to her listing in college, business and international Who’s Who directories. Betty is a twice-past president of PRSA’s Southeastern New England chapter (1996 and 2002) and has served as assembly delegate, strategic planning and public relations committee chair for the chapter. She is current past chairman of the board of the East Providence Area Chamber of Commerce, a past president of the board for Literacy Volunteers-R.I., past president of East Providence/Seekonk Rotary Club, Board of Governors member and communications committee chair for the Hope Club, a member of the PRSA Counselor’s Academy, and a twice-past president of East Bay Toastmasters Club. She has earned the Advanced Toastmaster-Bronze (ATM-B) and Competent Leader (CL) designations from Toastmasters International. Donna holds a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and English literature from the University of Rhode Island. She is a veteran news reporter and editor, and prior to joining Newberry, was employed as assistant editor of The Pawtucket Times. Besides The Pawtucket Times and its sister publication, The Woonsocket Call, Donna’s articles and photographs have appeared in The Rhode Island Builder Report, the East Providence Post, and several industry trade journals. Donna also has a background in corporate communications and advertising, having worked as communications manager for Paramount Cards, Inc., an international greeting card manufacturer formerly based in Pawtucket, R.I. , and as a copywriter with the Bernard Hodes advertising agency in Boston, Mass. email@example.com
Sara holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (2016) in communications from Rhode Island College, with a concentration in public relations and a minor in English. During college, she was an intern at Newberry, where she gained first-hand experience in PR campaigns, event planning and agency practices. Sara is also a member of Lambda Pi Eta, a national communications honor society.
Jane brings more than 30 years of experience developing and implementing marketing and public relations programs for corporate and nonprofit clients. A graduate of Cornell University’s Communication Arts program, Jane’s first job was writing national print ads and radio copy for Keepsake Diamond Rings, Daniel Green Outdorables and others at Conklin, Labs & Beebe in Syracuse, NY. Her husband’s career as a Naval officer took her to Norfolk, VA where she continued to work as an advertising copywriter. Her New England experience includes a long tenure with Roberta Segal & Associates, with clients ranging from construction firms to nonprofit organizations, serving their needs for marketing, public relations, fundraising campaigns and preparing grant proposals. Jane manages the estimating, scheduling and production of marketing materials including printed collateral, eBlasts and websites to create memorable communications for our clients.
